Extra-curricular Programme

Extra-curricular Programme
Spring Term 2010

Dear Parents

Please find attached a copy of the spring term extra-curricular programme for the Junior Department and the Senior School.  Apart from the change of sports next term, most of the activities remain largely the same as this term.

Those parents who receive school reports in this mailing will be able to see from the comments of Class Teachers/Form Tutors and, where appropriate, from student self-assessment reports, the activities in which students have participated.  We ask parents to encourage those whose current participation is limited to support us in trying to ensure that everyone takes full advantage of the opportunities on offer. I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to some activities that you may not be familiar with, including Modern Dance Club, Fencing Club, Tae Kwon Do (Senior School only) and Multi-Activities Programme (Junior Department only). Some of these activities were new to the extra-curricular programme in September and are thriving, but we are always looking for ‘new blood.’

We continue to encourage Sixth Form students to attend the societies targeted specifically for them.  Attendance was good in the autumn term, but there are still many students who have not yet benefited from the experiences of the wider world offered by the speakers and events at Culture Club, the Rosmini Society, the Science Society, Languages Society and the History Society.

Finally, please remember the usual caveat that all students need to strike the correct balance between academic work and extra-curricular activities, whatever stage of their education they are at.

Kind regards

Yours sincerely

Jon Reddin
Second Deputy Head
