Senior School House Competition 2008/09
Senior School House Competition 2008/09
The Senior School House Competition is again being closely contested, with 20 points covering all four Houses and Arundel holding a narrow lead. Any of the Houses could still win the Shield and we would encourage as many students as possible to get involved and to win points for their House.
The following events will take place in the summer term:
- 'Square Races' - students compete in Junior, Intermediate and Senior relay teams of four, running a lap each around the outside of the Senior School building
- Sports Day - always a highlight of the Ratcliffe calendar, students compete in Junior, Intermediate and Senior teams in track and field athletics events
- Other sports - there will be competitions in several Year groups in the summer sports: tennis, rounders and cricket
- Studies Grades - points are awarded to students for their effort and attainment
- Mathematics - questions are posted in the Maths Block each week and students win points for correct answers submitted to Mrs Smith
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme - students are awarded points for the successful completion of their Bronze, Silver or Gold Award
- Debating - Year 9 students compete in a traditional debating competition
- Poetry - Year 8 students are writing poems about animals which will be voted on by students early in the summer term.
- Drama - Year 9 students are in English sets according to Houses. Each set will practise and perform a short play.
- Debating - Year 9 students will also participate in debates against those in other Houses.
Other competitions may be added to the existing calendar of events. Details will be given to students at the fortnightly House Assemblies.
