Fencing is an Olympic sport which is both physically and mentally challenging.
Fencing club runs on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year and is open to both Prep School and Senior School pupils. Over the years we have had a number of successful fencers. We enter the Public School Fencing Competition and British Youth Championship East Midlands Qualifier and have medalled on many occasions.
Fencing sessions at school give students the opportunity to experience the Olympic sport of Epee fencing. Students take part in group training sessions where they learn the key fundamentals of the sport to enable them to develop their skills and participate in fencing bouts, using a mixture of plastic and metal fencing. Mr Richard Sharpe runs the Fencing sessions each week and is a level four British Fencing Association coach. He is also able to award fencing grades up to the highest level achievable (Grade 6), this encourages students to become competitive fencers.
