Careers Education at Ratcliffe carries on through to Year 13.
The aim of Careers Education and guidance at Ratcliffe is to enable students to make well informed choices about careers and to be well prepared to make transitions through their career exploration.
The Careers programme falls under the remit of the whole school PSHCE Programme. Mrs Kate Grace is Head of Careers, this provides our students with continuity throughout their pastoral and careers programme during their time at Ratcliffe.
There is a dedicated Careers Office, in which students can utilize, should they have any queries or questions. Should further investigation be required, we have a membership with a professional careers company that offers full career support and guidance, which is available to our parents and students.
The Careers sessions are tailored to each year group to ensure a gradual introduction into the world of work. Upon commencement of Sixth Form, the students partake in sessions that fully support their university applications and further education aspirations. The Head of Year 12, with the support of the Head of Sixth Form, hold UCAS dedicated sessions, which are also supported by visiting speakers from a myriad of universities to aid the next transition for our students.
Our Year 12 students also have the opportunity to build upon their careers interviews from Year 11. They are given the opportunity to complete a Centigrade test, the results of which assist them in which university to choose; thereafter they have a one-to-one interview with a qualified careers advisor.
Our Head of Sixth Form also arranges a Careers Convention Fair annually, whereby universities from across the country are invited into Ratcliffe to promote themselves to our students
