The grounds team have planted 13 new trees so far in 2026 with more to come in next few weeks. This continues after over 1000 new hedging plants have been planted across the site in the last two years.

As with any rural estate with mature trees, a number of our older specimens have unfortunately suffered with disease, decay and general old age related issues, not helped with the recent trend of wet winters and dry summers, this therefore means we have to manage and maintain the site carefully in order to ensure the woodland beauty remains for the next generation and the generations to come.

We have chosen Limes (Tilia Cordata) to delineate the focal main driveway as the current ones are striking with their lush green canopy when in full leaf.

Three limes will also adorn the far side of the first team rugby pitch, planted alongside two Field Maple's (Acer Campestre).

Around the senior sports car park two more Field Maple's have been planted, coupled with two Sunburst Golden Honey-Locust (Gleditsia Triacanthos) trees which will provide shade and colour in these areas for years to come.

During the half term break a further two new trees will be located in the Prep school grounds.

We continue to assess the site for suitable locations for new trees as an ongoing matter.

Chris Moody,

Head of Grounds
