Last Tuesday, our GCSE and A Level Informal Concert took place, and what an exceptional evening it was. It was truly wonderful to see so many students represented from Year 9 upwards, all of whom have chosen Music as an academic specialism and all of whom are making excellent progress on their respective courses. The programme was varied to say the least, with repertoire ranging from J.S. Bach to The Cranberries, and the audience were thoroughly entertained throughout from the outstanding level of music on show. Congratulations to all involved – Isaac Madden-Smith, Hannah Simon, Fimidara Adenle, Sanvi Nair, Gyaan Sagoo, Tilly Etty, James Proctor, Sonny Turner, Isabelle Cullen, Ben Kay, Joshua D’Souza, Grace-Ava Smith, Natalia Bogus, Vidhi Nair, Mia Gu, Joe Rapsey, Phoenix Castledine, Abigail Cole, Teresa Chmurovicova, Violet Rudkin, Sena Savjani, Florence Rudkin, Iszac Rodrigues, Grace Martin and Lexi Abraham. I am extremely proud of you all.
On Wednesday night, our Peripatetic Parents’ Evening took place, and I hope those of you who took part found this a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress in a meaningful manner with the relevant specialist. We are hugely fortunate to have a large and outstanding team of Visting Music Teachers here at Ratcliffe, and my sincere thanks to them for giving up their evening for the benefit of our young musicians.
We are now all systems go for our upcoming production of Matilda, which opens in less than two weeks! Rehearsals are now in their very final stages and the whole production is looking truly marvellous. Choreography is tight, singing is harmonious and scenes are slick. We look forward to the costumes being delivered next week, as well as the technical aspects being set up late next week ahead of the all-day technical rehearsal on Saturday, when everything will finally come together. We do hope as many of the Ratcliffe community as possible will choose to support this extraordinary endeavour – tickets are available via this link, and it really is something not to be missed. Thank you so much in advance for your support, and I look forward to reporting all about it in my next blog.
Wishing you all an enjoyable, musical fortnight.
Mr Harris, Director of Music
