Students bring home 'Best Delegation' award as France team leads impressive overall performance
Ratcliffe College is celebrating a major achievement after a highly successful showing at the Bath International Schools Model United Nations 2026, where its students were awarded the prestigious Best Delegation prize.
Fourteen students represented the school, debating global issues across committees including Human Rights, Environment, Political Affairs, Security Council and Science & Technology. Working in teams representing France, Ghana and Indonesia, the delegation demonstrated exceptional diplomacy, research and public speaking skills throughout the weekend.
The standout success came from the French delegation, who were crowned Best Delegation of the conference, bringing home a trophy for Ratcliffe College.
Award-winning performances across committees
A particularly strong set of individual results highlighted the depth of talent within the team:
- Joe I was named Best Delegate in the Security Council, recognising his leadership and contribution during high-level geopolitical debate.
- Tom W was awarded Best Junior Delegate in his committee.
- Isabella S also received Best Junior Delegate in Human Rights.
- Several students achieved Commended and Highly Commended Delegate status, reflecting strong performance across all committees.
Other notable contributions included:
- John B speaking on environmental amendments in committee discussions.
- Ben W successfully passing a resolution on the crisis in Sudan in the Political Committee.
- Praise I speaking in favour of a Human Rights resolution and receiving Commended Delegate recognition.
- The French delegation, led by Joe I, contributing strongly to debates in the General Assembly.
Ghana and Indonesia delegations represent with distinction
Students representing Ghana and Indonesia also delivered confident and well-researched contributions:
- Ghana delegation: James S, Will S, Eddie W, and Praise I (Human Rights – Commended Delegate).
- Indonesia delegation: Amelie W, Ben K, Elizabeth L, and Juno B.
Debating at Kingswood School, Bath
The conference took place at Kingswood School, where students engaged in fast-paced, formal debate on pressing global issues including human rights, international security, environmental policy and ongoing conflicts.
Across the weekend, Ratcliffe students delivered speeches, negotiated amendments and drafted resolutions in line with real-world United Nations procedures.
A standout achievement for Ratcliffe College MUN
The overall success reflects both individual excellence and strong teamwork, with many delegates recognised for their contributions and several receiving top honours in their committees.
The school extended its thanks to staff for their support and coordination of the Model United Nations Society, helping students prepare for and excel in such a demanding academic and diplomatic environment.
This achievement marks one of the strongest performances to date for Ratcliffe College at Model United Nations conferences and provides a platform for future participation and continued success on the international stage.
