Chaplaincy Corner – 9th February
Year 8 students visited Alton Castle in Staffordshire for a three day retreat this week. They left after lunch on Monday and returned just before the end of school on Wednesday. Almost every student was present, and they enjoyed out- and indoor activities ranging from trekking to survival, biking to archery. Among all the activities was “down-time” at the tuckshop and games room, and – of course – reflections, prayer and liturgy. As one of the attending staff, I’m always impressed with the candid conversations as we weave our way through the beautiful hills and valley of Alton. The students were wonderful ambassadors for the school, with staff especially complimentary of their reverence during Eucharistic Adoration and Mass.
My thanks to all staff, students and parents who were so supportive, and who enabled this great experience.
