Looking to send your child to a school that is based overseas can be a daunting prospect, with a lot of things to consider and steps to go through. Here at Ratcliffe College we aim to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. This goes for our application process, we hope the information here adds some clarity and answers your concerns.
We take International students from the age of 11 upwards, those wishing to register with us are required to take tests in standard subjects such as English, Mathematics and Sciences as part of the admissions process.
Students looking to register to undertake A Levels with us and join our Sixth Form will be similarly tested in the subjects which they are choosing to study.
It is recommended that overseas applicants, whose first language is not English, should provide an IELTS or Cambridge Assessment English examination certificate to confirm their ability in English language.
However, only year 12 applicants have to provide an IELTS certificate before entry. Other year groups can sit our own English examinations at Ratcliffe College as we are an approved centre; but will have to provide an IELTS or Cambridge Assessment English examination certificate at the end of their first academic year in order to progress through the School.
Where possible, it is advantageous to arrange a personal visit to the school and meet with the Headmaster for an interview. However, if this is not convenient, a Skype interview will suffice. Personal visits are available during a normal school day. Alternatively, you would be most welcome to attend one of our Open Mornings.
If you are looking for your child to enter the Preparatory School, a personal visit and a face to face interview is mandatory. An assessment can then be carried out under supervision.
Because Ratcliffe College is a Tier 4 Sponsor, we can issue a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) statement as a Tier 4 Sponsor, to those students who have been offered and have accepted their place. These statements can only be produced once all acceptance paperwork has been fully completed.
