Careers Education Senior School Senior School - Ratcliffe College

Careers Education – Ages 11-16

We believe it is never too soon to start thinking about the future. The School Careers Office offers a range of resources and information, combined with support and guidance for whatever paths our students choose. We aim to equip all of our students with the skills and knowledge to explore a wealth of career options and assist them as they make important decisions about their future.

The Careers Office is based in the Sixth Form Centre and is open to all students throughout the school. Run by our dedicated Head of Careers, Mrs Kate Grace we offer individual appointments around our student’s timetables. Careers Education and Guidance begins in Year 7 and continues through to Year 13.

Careers Education falls largely within the PHSCE Programme. Students are given information and support to help them make informed choices about their study options and career pathways. They are helped to recognise their strengths and passions and link these with sectors and roles. We also support students in articulating and evidencing their academic and non-academic skills. The college also works closely with external partners, contacts and our alumni network, introducing students to careers and work experience. Active sessions allow students the opportunity to develop key skills that both universities and businesses see as important.

The Careers office also works with the various departments, Heads of Years and tutors. This means Careers Education is fully integrated within the college and students are able to link their curriculum with future opportunities.

Every student has access to an award winning online Careers platform. This allows them to build a profile to compare and choose the best university courses, apprenticeships or further education courses.

We host numerous events each year such as Careers and HE Fairs, ‘INSPIRE’ talks and a variety of information evenings for students and parents.
