Fantastic Final Performances for Drama Department - Ratcliffe College

Fantastic Final Performances for Drama Department

All School News | 08.07.2021

Our Year 12 Drama Students treated us to some wonderful end of year performances last week, as the final curtain fell on the Drama department for another academic year. The students created some highly original reinterpretations of set texts, which came off beautifully both in person for those staff in attendance, and on camera as they were being filmed for examination purposes.

Verity, Alex and Megan performed the play 100 in the style of Punch-Drunk Theatre Company. The creative and unique set, together with their imaginative staging led the audience into a ‘void,’ a bar and finally a bedroom as they told the story of a young couple desperately searching for their happiest memory, in order to find peace after death.

Sophie, Beth and Indie then treated us to a beautiful depiction of the play My Mother Said I Never Should in the style of Frantic Assembly. Their section of the story depicts the relationship between three generations of women in the same family, but is brought to life with the addition of some creatively choreographed physical theatre which highlights the emotive nature of the play.

Mrs Jess Munton, Head of Drama said:

“Despite not having a full crowd, I would like to congratulate all the students on their performances and their hard work in rehearsals leading up to the shows. With only a small number of staff in attendance, it was an extra challenge for our performers to deliver a more intimate production.

“I would like to thank all students and staff across many departments who made these productions possible, from the set to the costumes we couldn’t have done it without you. We hope in the next academic year we can entertain an audience and we can’t wait to welcome you to the theatre once again!”
