Seven students receive Conditional Offers for Oxbridge and for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science

All School News | 07.05.2024

Ratcliffe College is proud to announce that seven students have received conditional offers from Oxford University, and for Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science at some of the UK’s most prestigious Universities.

Two of the seven students have been offered a place to study at the University of Oxford, reading Law and Languages respectively.

The Class of 2024 have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their A Level studies, once again demonstrating Ratcliffe College students’ ability to secure places at top University destinations.

At Ratcliffe, around 20% of students join the Early Applicants Programme every year. The Early Applicants Programme is a highly valuable part of our Sixth Form provision that supports some of our A Level students through their application to the universities of Oxford or Cambridge, as well as providing practical resources, personalised support and interview preparation, to apply for competitive courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.

Head of Sixth Form, Mr Harrison, remarks on this fantastic achievement,

At Ratcliffe College, we pride ourselves on supporting students to achieve their first-choice destinations in whatever route they wish to pursue. We are delighted by the success of these seven students, who worked incredibly hard to achieve these aspirational offers on very competitive courses, and are extremely proud of them. We wish them, and all our 2024 leavers, every success in the future and look to forward to hearing about their continued progress.

The seven students holding conditional offers are:

Oxbridge

  • Ejemen Joel – University of Oxford (Law)
  • Angelica Robinson – University of Oxford (Languages)

Medicine

  • David Ipinmoye – Sheffield University (Medicine)

Dentistry

  • Katherine McCrindell – University of Birmingham (Dentistry and Surgery)

Veterinary Medicine and Science

  • Georgie Daynes – Harper and Keele Veterinary School (Veterinary Medicine and Surgery)
  • Rosie Dickerson – University of Edinburgh (Veterinary Medicine)
  • Emily Ball – University of Liverpool (Veterinary Science)

Rosie Dickerson, comments on her offer,

I am delighted to receive a conditional offer from the University of Edinburgh to study Veterinary Medicine this September. I would not have been able to achieve this offer without the support from the School and the Early Applicants Programme – the MMI practice interviews and role plays were extremely valuable.

David Ipinmoye, speaks fondly of the support received from Ratcliffe to read Medicine,

After making the decision to study Medicine at the end of Year 11, I knew the Early Applicants Programme at Ratcliffe was the best route for me to build a successful future in Medicine. I am very happy with my offer, and thankful for all the individual guidance and support received throughout my A Levels.

Ejemen Joel, said,

I feel very proud of myself and incredibly grateful for this opportunity and experience to study at the University of Oxford, as it opens so many doors. Law is always what I have wanted to do – I cannot imagine myself in any other profession.

These students represent almost 10% of the year group. This is the highest proportion of early applicant offers in recent years. This year, 20% of Year 12 students have again enrolled on the Early Applicants Programme. During their first year on the programme, students have spent valuable time learning about Oxbridge courses, colleges and admissions tests. Prospective Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science students have considered the key skills required in these professions, how to optimise their work experience, and the components of the Clinical Aptitude Test. We look forward to Year 12 students submitting their own early applications in the Autumn Term.

It’s true – ‘Excellent preparation for life after school, say pupils, and not just Oxbridge and medical routes’ (The Good Schools Guide, 2024).
