On the Tuesday before half -term, the U13 Tennis team played against Loughborough High School and drew the match. A special mention must go to Daisy Reddin, Molly Hunt and Olivia Monkhouse who agreed to play with little notice due to unavailability of other players. The girls played their single matches first displaying some excellent tennis, with Daisy Reddin and Georgie Daynes winning 6 – 3 and 7 – 5 respectfully,  and Molly Hunt and Olivia Monkhouse narrowly losing 7 -5 and 7 – 6. The girls should be very pleased with their performance against a strong Loughborough side.

The U15 Girls played against Loughborough High School. In the first innings, Ratcliffe fielded first. Loughborough batted well, but Ratcliffe displayed some great fielding skills and made some impressive catches, which meant that Loughborough only scored 3 ½ rounders. Ratcliffe went on to bat and with some impressive hitting, finished up with 5 ½ rounders.

In the second innings, Annie Rose Reddin’s accurate and pacey bowling made it easier for Ratcliffe to get the opposition out and Loughborough finished the innings with 3 ½  rounders. Ratcliffe stepped up to bat and hit some great balls to scored 6 ½ rounders. By the end of the game the final score was 12 – 7 to Ratcliffe.

The U14 Girls faced a strong side from Loughborough High School. The girls fielded well in the first innings, with some strong throws in the deep field from Tallulah Wood. However, Loughborough had some strong batters that Ratcliffe found hard to stop scoring. At the end of the first innings Ratcliffe trailed 4 ½ to 9 ½ rounders.

In the second innings, Holly Clark-Pratt displayed some excellent bowling, alongside Chelsea Mhakadeni who scored some terrific rounders. Despite their best efforts, the girls ended up losing 9 – 17 ½.  Player of the Match was Eleni Malhan.

Congratulations to Aimee Cleminson and James Turner who have been awarded Leicestershire and Rutland Hockey Association U16s Girls’ and Boys’ Player of the Year. A wonderful achievement, well done to both students.
