Boarding and Benefits

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Boarding Community here at Ratcliffe College. Boarding really is at the heart of the school, both physically and metaphorically, and we are proud to have a happy, positive and friendly boarding house which the boarding students consider a home away from home.

Accommodation and meals:

Meals are served in the Refectory, which has been described as Leicestershire’s answer to Hogwarts! Catering staff provide a wide selection of healthy meal choices. All students are given a selection of vegetables or salad to accompany their meal and special dietary requirements are catered for.

As a Ratcliffe College Summer School student, you will be accommodated in the comfortable and homely Boarding Houses, where you will enjoy a range of impressive facilities, including common study areas, lounges for relaxing and playing games, kitchenettes for making drinks and snacks, and a laundry room.

Although she didn’t join us for Summer School, she studied and lived with us for four years as a full-time student. Her video gives a great impression of what life is like as an overseas boarding student.

Our Facilities:

Ratcliffe College is a co-educational Catholic independent school based in Leicestershire, England. The College was founded in 1847 and is situated in 200 acres of beautiful rolling countryside in a safe and secure rural environment.

Ratcliffe College Summer School aims to support students of all abilities to improve their English in a friendly, caring, comfortable and encouraging environment. The courses are taught by enthusiastic and dedicated members of the Ratcliffe College staff who work in the English as an Additional Language Department. Our staff have a wide range of experience with language tuition and are enthusiastic to engage and motivate young learners.

The College boasts excellent facilities, including a sports centre, 25m heated indoor swimming pool and synthetic running track as well as sports pitches, tennis courts, Music Centre and Theatre. There are also state-of-the-art computer suites and well-equipped classrooms.

Here at Ratcliffe College we celebrate a diverse student community in boarding, with residents bringing a rich wealth of different cultures and life experiences. There is also a strong family feel as older students will take responsibility for and look after those who are younger than themselves, this makes for a very unique culture in our Boarding Houses.
